smorgasborddd replied to your post: Here’s a little story.

Uggh, I hate how everyone wants to be a housewife now b/c of stupid shows like the Real Housewives. Right on Meghin’s mom! My mom is a housewife who doesn’t drive, & she’s pretty miserable. She sews, cleans & cooks & I’m determined to not be her.

Morgan, I just saw this now. Those Housewife shows are ridiculous. I’ll admit, I watch them, but solely for entertainment purposes only. I don’t watch them religiously, only because I don’t care.

It’s a new era. We live in the 21st Century, not the 1950s. Your mom should be happy, not miserable! As for you, GO YOU! I think most kids don’t want to end up being their parents. If we all ended up like our parents, that might be just a little scary.

Hahaha the 4th one! Aw

That is one of my personal favorites, haha. That was also the night that he passed out from being so tired that I was able to give him a “tramp stamp” that said I <3 MOM! Normally my mother yells at me when I mess with him while he’s asleep, buuuut she loved that one.

Lol the ultimate series of blackmail pictures! Love it!
I know that I have more pictures like this somewhere. I scoured Facebook and my iPhone. I have a feeling the rest of the pictures of him sleeping are locked away somewhere on my old phone…which I left in State College. Whoops. My mom and I get such a laugh when we see him sleeping somewhere, that we feel obligated to take pictures!

Thats so cute! Awesome find! Hope you’re enjoying Texas!

Thanks! I cannot wait to wear it. My mom told me that I needed to find something “work-appropriate” for DC this summer if I were to buy any clothes. This dress fit that description perfectly. I’m back home now, but I had a wonderful time enjoying the Texas sun, seeing Kohl, and exploring San Angelo :)

i have this one too! love my external hard drive.

Yay! I just love how I can make it say stuff, haha. This was ~required for my television news class. Le sigh. At least I found it on sale!

I see stuff like this all the time, ahaha I don’t get it. Everyday I’m face-palmin’
Welcome to the west side of the Oswego campus center… The most horrifying place on earth…

I have seriously never seen someone actually wearing that until today! I quietly laughed in my head but in all seriousness, REALLY?
PS. Meghin I really enjoy your new URL. It sounds British-y. (And people are going to think I’m crazy for writing that sentence. IT FEELS SO WEIRD.)

smorgasborddd replied to your post: New year, new meal?

uggh, those are two meals I would never eat when I was a kid. Still don’t. Thank goodness my family makes fried chicken and black eyed peas, part of her family is from Georgia, it’s a tradition there.

Morgan, that meal sounds absolutely delicious.

Me too Meghin, except replace Media Law with anthropology. Good luck!

Good luck to you too! Anthropology sounds much more fun than media law!

Found that the other day stuck to the dryer when I went to put my clothes in. :p I live in freshman housing. Freshmen are gross. Sad to call myself one.

Oh you poor thing. Even superseniors are gross, so don’t worry.
But seriously, what girl would wanna leave that on? I mean, EW!

smorgasborddd replied to your post: It’s been a week and I am already sick of the…

I couldn’t imagine being in the center of it all, watching it unfold. I’m sorry for that. And plus being among all those mindless people who think that JoePa’s career is more important than those boys. I’m tired of the media & hearing about it too.

It’s really disheartening to be here. The Collegian is going around parading this like it’s something to really celebrate. (The EIC of the paper went on CNN and said, “This is a great time to be a student journalist in Happy Valley!” I kid you not.). OS has been praised for at least trying to keep a really fair and balanced view of the case, and I am incredibly proud to be a part of that staff.

It also sucks that everybody wants to make their own views about it, especially when they a.) don’t go here or to any of the satellite campuses, b.) have not been immersed in the “Penn State Image” for years, c.) aren’t an alum of the school, and d.) strictly make their views, biases and opinions based on what they see the media saying. Because of all that, views have gotten skewed. I mean, I’ve seen on several blogs that JoePa is apparently a child molester now, when it was reported to him by McQueary who witnessed it all, and really should be the one under fire for all of this.

Also, the media is just taking the angle with JoePa because he is a prominent public figure at this institution. People don’t know who Sandusky is, unless they really followed PSU football (or until now, obviously), they have no idea who Curley or Schultz are, nor do they know who Graham Spanier is, or the Board of Trustees. They all know JoePa.

The Penn State football program has a motto: Success with Honor. Right now, this motto is terribly tarnished and ruined. Because of this scandal, there is no honor at all, but the students are trying to bring it back. The students are the one who organized a candlelight vigil for the victims. They’re the ones out raising money for RAINN. They’re the ones who were disgusted WITH OTHER STUDENTS for going out and causing not one ruckus, but TWO within days of each other in one week. They’re the ones who have to also deal with the shame from this case. They’re (okay. I should stop saying they’re. It’s WE’RE…) We are the ones who will be dealing with the repercussions from this case for YEARS.

Maybe if the media didn’t have such a bias on this case, and had all of the facts, then the case would be able to have a better presence across the board. Maybe if the media actually knew what they were talking about (save for one or two outlets) and had more student viewpoints, they would actually understand. Maybe if they really covered the GOOD things at Penn State, rather than just this scandal, normalcy might start to return.

But for right now, the bubble that surrounded Happy Valley has been burst, and people who are complete strangers to what Happy Valley is are just flooding in, and not really getting every single crucial fact in this case. For now, it’s the media that are causing shame on this place.

Based on what I’ve seen, I really don’t want to be a broadcast journalist if this is how they cover big cases like this. I’d rather have all the facts and report on that without a bias than not have the facts and spew out a bias.

Don’t get me wrong though. I am absolutely horrified and disgusted with this case. I am absolutely disgusted that a man with such authority would abuse his power and do stuff like that to small children. I’m even more disgusted with how the University handled the case, and how they tried to cover it all up like nothing happened. The fact that protecting an image was more important than helping young boys who were abused by a monster is completely sickening. Right now, I want to see justice for those boys, but sadly, I don’t think it’s going to happen for quite some time. It will happen AFTER I have graduated from here. That’s really disappointing.

We Still Are Penn State. This scandal doesn’t change that fact at all.

smorgasborddd replied to your photo: This is probably one of the most offensive things…

Part of why I chose not to go to Penn State. That’s awful. I don’t want to live on this earth anymore. :P

I’m not a fan of the bros here AT ALL. It’s ridiculous. I don’t like their holier than thou attitudes, as well as the “uber-privileged” girls who think money can buy grades.

smorgasborddd replied to your post: smorgasborddd replied to your post: IKEA=big…

I did go to that one, but sadly I did not. I could honestly live there. Good news is that my college is only about 15 minutes away from it. I think I may go there on move-in day instead :)

Ah! LUCKY! Where are you going to school?
I know my friend and I will be road tripping up there possibly once during the school year. Buuuut since State College is getting an Urban Outfitters, that might not be necessary, hahah.
