Better Things - The Swellers

It’s not the friends you thought you had
Or your location on a map
It’s what you feel in here
Home is where you make it
And I’m not afraid to say it

I must see this show.
This lineup is actually REALLY awesome. This tour better come somewhere either remotely close to Lancaster, or even Richmond or something.
I mean, even though TIJ’s so out of place on this tour, it’s still absolutely incredible.
Will somebody please take me? Please? :D

This is My Everest (Acoustic) - The Swellers

It takes a toll too high to see another life flash before your eyes.
The highway won’t just stop itself if you’re alive.
There’s no more time to think of the might-have-beens.
As the old ship sinks, we have mountains to climb.
This is my everest.

Stars - The Swellers

This is my favorite song off this album. I love it dearly.

“i’m screaming, ‘love, it takes time, it takes time.’ i wish i could take my time and your worries away. i’ll take my time and your worries away. this one’s for you…i’ll be okay, ‘cause i’ve got the stars.”

Period.

The hipster empire of tomorrow will fall to the common kids of today…I’m just trying to bring back music back to music, I define up and coming. They already came up and went.
-Bayside, Head On A Plate (The Walking Wounded; 2007)

So, as time goes on, I go through periods where I’ll listen to a while bunch of different stuff. Right now, I seem to be listening to a lot more pop-punk stuff than I normally would listen to. I mean, don’t get me wrong. Bayside and New Found Glory are bands I’ve been listening to for years, and I love them. But with the exception of these two bands[one of which I’m currently listening to. Bayside has defined my life in some way, just as much as Jack’s Mannequin&Something Corporate have.], I’ve been listening to a lot more of the newer reincarnations of pop-punk out there. Man Overboard, Four Year Strong, The Swellers, Fireworks, etc.

Quite frankly, I love it. This music is full of energy, and right now, it’s been keeping me pretty pepped up. It’s actually making for a great blend into my big mixing pot of music genres I listen to. Normally, the genre of music that I listen to in any given period defines my moods, and apparently, I’m feeling angsty and energetic.

Perhaps it’s also because of my best friend. He’s gotten me into some of the newer bands that I’ve been listening to, and I’m definitely giving him credit for introducing me to Man Overboard. The one thing I absolutely love about them, is that they’re out to defend pop-punk, and its roots. I wish more artists would care this much, in retrospect.

However, periods come and go, and I’m sure in a month or so, I will have moved on to another genre to listen to endlessly, and for hours on end. But, with these periods, I will get new music, keep it on repeat, then keep it in my regular shuffle. Because, when it’s time for the next period, it just depends on what comes up on shuffle, and what makes me feel better. Also, it’s just nice to hear music that I haven’t heard in ages just suddenly appear out of nowhere. It brings back good memories, and that’s really all that matters.

This is part two of my photos from Warped yesterday :)
It’s going to be a three-part series, sorry.

Yep. Warped is like Christmas to me. I’m also trying to figure out why I love pop-punk so much now. But on the bright side, The Swellers are nice guys, as are the guys of Polar Bear Club [who aren’t in this picture]. And this Have Heart cd absolutely rocks, it’s one of my favorites, and I don’t know why I never had a copy of it in the first place.

Hell Yeah! WARPED.

I’ve figured out what bands I’d like to see. And hopefully, there won’t be any conflicts with set times like last year. I missed out on seeing A Day To Remember because Underoath was playing at the same time. And actually, I’m glad I got to see them when I did, because that was probably the only time I’ll ever see Aaron Gillepsie with them again.
So now, my list, yes, in alphabetical order, hah. And the ones that are in all caps are ones that I absolutely cannot wait to see!:

  •  Alesana.
  • Alkaline Trio
  • ANARBOR.
  • Automatic Loveletter.
  • Bring Me The Horizon.
  • ENTER SHIKARI.
  • FOUR YEAR STRONG.
  • I CAN MAKE A MESS LIKE NOBODY’S BUSINESS.
  • MOTION CITY SOUNDTRACK.
  • Of Mice and Men.
  • POLAR BEAR CLUB.
  • Reel Big Fish.
  • Set Your Goals.
  • The Downtown Fiction.
  • THE ROCKET SUMMER.
  • The Swellers.
  • VersaEmerge.

Yeah, I’m excited. :)
